Diet For The Day

Posted on June 12, 2013 by Ali Vincent

Have you ever had that special occasion that you wanted to lose a few extra pounds before attending? Well I know I have and continue to have. I think special occasions are great opportunities to reboot our healthy living. A time to check in and make sure that we are on top of all our choices. However if you switch up your lifestyle completely just to lose a few pounds you may feel better for the day but as soon as you celebrate and go back to your habits prior you will gain your weight back and probably more.

Why? Well there are a few reasons why. Many people think that if they eat a very limited amount of calories they will lose weight. This is true, the problem is that your body now thinks it starving. When your body goes into starvation mode it’s natural instinct is to survive. Survival for our bodies means that they will start storing the next time there is food. We operate on a feast and famine cycle so if there are extremely lows and highs of calorie intake our bodies will get as much as it can take during the highs so that they have reserves during the lows.

Another reason is that often the “lose a few pounds super quick” techniques are just another form of dehydration. What does this mean? It means that as soon as your replace the water you lost you will be back where you started. This is more of an instant reaction. Whether it’s from some type of cleanse which can dehydrate your body from flushing your system. Or if you have the late night plastic body suit purchase that you wear to the gym the week before. Or if you have the time and money to go get a body wrap at a spa, you will loose some weight or some inches but don’t try to fit in your dress the next day and feel the same way in it.

These types of techniques are not what I’m talking about when I said I think special occasions can be a great opportunity to jump start or reboot healthy habits. I’m talking about setting a goal and implementing exercise and healthy eating choices months before not the week before. On Live Big With Ali Vincent, you get to meet Dominique who is getting ready for a day she’s dreamt of for years..... her wedding day. Of course Dominique wants to feel amazing walking down the aisle. However she wants to jumpstart her new life as husband and wife in a healthy way.

Believe It Be It, Why is there only certain sizes?

Posted on May 15, 2013 by Ali Vincent

I have received a lot response since I opened my BIBI Lifestyle store online, GOOD- in interest and rough in judgement, so I wanted to explain.

When I was on The Biggest Loser one of the things that I hated the most was the fact that there weren't any clothes appropriate for me to workout in and came in my size. As a result I found myself working out in biker shorts and large MENS shirts. The problem with this is that I felt like a slug and I looked like one too.

I was on a mission to find workout wear that did not take away from my workout experience. I wanted to feel just as good as the other women in the gym. In my search High and Low I found NOTHING!!!!!! That was it. I knew that I needed to fill the need and create a line of active wear that fit me, and all of you out there like me.

My mission is to create a line that fits ALL women from size 2- 54+ and be body specific! I want Believe It, Be It® to be a line that inspires us to feel our best while supporting us the way we need it to. It will be a line that is made from your input and mine. A line that encourages active lifestyles and RESULTS. I have a million ideas for incentives!

Now as you can imagine, if you have met me in person, when I get excited about something my energy is through the roof and I go a million miles a minute. I went to The Biggest Loser, I talked to people at Khol’s, QVC and HSN. I had my agents looking out for me and pitched my ideas for my line. I talked about the line with every opportunity, interviews on all platforms, TV, print and radio..... looking for someone to partner with me to get the line started. No one was interested :(

Now remember, this was before anything similar existed, and looking back I probably shared too much because now there are plenty of lines out there that cater to women of larger sizes. The Biggest Loser recently created a line that implemented several of my ideas. The good news is that now these lines exist. However, I still feel like the needs of women like me have not been met. There are things to be considered that you would only know if you had experienced the issue. So the Believe It, Be It® line is still needed!

After years of rejection, I started thinking maybe it’s not for me to fill this need, but as I sat with this idea I couldn’t swallow it, I thought “If not me than who?”

With resources at a minimum and not really knowing where to start, I decided to just start with inspirational and empowering branding of clothes, buying from lines that already existed. My thought process was that if I started somewhere, new avenues will present themselves. I was RIGHT!

I’m sorry that currently all that has been available is sizes topping out at XL-XXL. The few that I was able to get my hands on are selling faster than I anticipated, leaving some styles already unavailable in those sizes.

The GOOD news is that I am working to get Believe It, Be It® active wear to you ASAP! The first steps have taken place and now we're working on styles and sizes, new patterns have to be cut, and then it goes to the factory. You will be able to be a part as soon as I can get everything in order(financing being a big point, but I'm working on it) and the clothes on the racks near you!

If you want to help me, YOU can! Send me your picture, all your measurements and the concerns you run into with active wear clothing to BIBIsizeMe@alivincent.com. This will help me greatly in the design and sizing aspects. Include your address and I will send you a token of my appreciation.

I believe, now I need your support and please let’s try and see the positive verses any negative.

Here’s to you and Living BIG!
